The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they receive to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume assistance along with financial and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
